Growing your own vegetable garden offers so many advantages that it's hard to list them all!
1. You get to plant only the veggies that you enjoy!
2. Growing your own vegetables can save you hundreds of dollars in grocery bills. Not only do you have access to fresh veggies right out your back door all spring/summer/fall long, but it is easy to grow some extra and freeze them, so that you have them all winter long as well!
3. Home-grown veggies taste SO much better than store-bought, we promise!
4. Home-grown veggies are healthier, too. You can monitor exactly what they're sprayed
with (if anything!) and how they're stored.
5. You get to make new friends! Undoubtedly you'll end up with too much of at least one
type of veggie, so share with your friends/family/co-workers/etc!
6. By growing your own veggies, you reduce your carbon footprint.
7. By choosing a couple heirloom varieties along with the more popular modern varieties,
you help to preserve endangered plants!
8. And so much more!
With all of this in mind, we here at Laurenitis Farm make sure to offer the largest variety of vegetable starts possible. For example, did you know that we offered over 140 varieties of tomatoes in 2012? Wow!
So take a look at our online lists of tomatoes, peppers, and other veggies, jot down some favorites, and stop by to get your new garden started off right!
